Konami gets license to produce American Idol video games
FremantleMedia has licensed American Idol’s video game rights to Konami. According to a press release, the deal “grants Konami the rights to develop games for current and next generation video game systems based on” the show. The games will be distributed in North and Latin America.
As MTV.com news notes, “The first, non-Konami batch of ‘Idol’ games was released more than a year ago but met with poor reviews.” Those include the Codemasters’ PlayStation2 game, the Vivdeni Universal PC game, and Game Boy Advance game.
No word about what the games might be like or when they’ll be released. But here’s a prediction: Pressing up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start will cause your character to bang Paula Abdul.
