Simon Cowell, the bitchy, biting, and British judge of both American Idol and Pop Idol, has been offered everything from a gig hosting CBS’ revival of Star Search to leading roles in movies. He turned them all down, telling the New York Daily News, “There is something that I’ve learned from this job and that’s if you’re involved in something successful, don’t believe the hype for a moment. My job at the end of the day is to try to create formats that will sell records.” The paper also reports “he is close to signing on for another edition of the show”—as are the other judges, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.
