The premiere of Big Brother 3 was up against the episode of American Idol that found the judges selecting the wildcard finalist. But that wasn’t enough to keep the FOX show on top; 200,000 more viewers tuned in to the first Big Brother 3 episode. While the shows tied in the number of viewers under 50, American Idol won the hour in both teenage viewers and among adults 18 to 34. From now on, only the second half-hour of the Wednesday Big Brother 3 will be up against American Idol; this week’s hour-long Wednesday airing was because FOX preempted the show for the all-star game. In that second half-hour this week, FOX won in both adults 18 to 49 and in total viewers.
