One of the American Idol semifinalists is getting kicked off the show for violating a rule. But which rule, and which contestant? USA TODAY reports the person “has been disqualified for lying about his age,” saying the person “is 25—one year too old by show rules.” Zap2it.com contradicts that slightly, saying the person is 29, but further identifies him/her as one of the 10 semifinalists who will be narrowed to three on tonight’s show. Other (mostly unsubstantiated) rumors about the dismissal include Jim being disqualified for revealing his standing on the show before episodes aired; he did so on his blog, which has since been deleted, although someone is now mirroring its contents. Others suggest that Justin is in trouble for being a member of a professional group. But both of those are unlikely since FOX says it’s one of tonight’s semifinalists—not a finalist—who will be booted. During the UK’s Pop Idol, a contestant was also disqualified for being outside of the age range, but the UK contestant was underage.
