The producers of American Idol, along with FOX, are standing behind their winner, saying she did nothing wrong by working with other producers to record a few songs last spring—songs they now want to release. In a statement reprinted by Entertainment Weekly, they said she “did not breach any rules of the competition” and won the “competition fairly and was rightfully chosen by the American public … We at 19 Entertainment, Fremantle Media and Fox are proud of our winner.” EW also reports that Kelly’s album will be again delayed, possibly until late spring. She’s about to start filming From Justin to Kelly, a kind-of fictional movie wherein “30 aspiring singers compete in a karaoke-style sing-off, as they’re criticized and mocked by judges, and gradually eliminated until there is only one,” according to Greg Dean Schmitz.
