Nikki McKibbin was eliminated from the American Idol contest last night, leaving Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini to compete next week to see who is number one. They’ll be joined next week by the winner of the UK’s Pop Idol, Will Young, who may even perform a duet with the winner. The two-part season finale will take place over three hours next week: the hour-long part one will air on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. ET, and the two-hour second part will air Wednesday, Sept. 4, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
+ also: last week’s Tuesday show was the most-watched show of the week.
+ and: the finalists and all three judges will present awards at the MTV VMAs tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
