Although the contestant’s contract includes a clause permitting the producers to choose the winner of American Idol, the producers say “[b]arring a catastrophic failure of Fox’s phone-in voting system, American TV viewers … will still decide the winner,” the AP reports. Viewers will choose the winner Sept. 3.
