despite contract clause, producers say viewers will decide on American Idol.
Although the contestant’s contract includes a clause permitting the producers to choose the winner of American Idol, the producers say “[b]arring a catastrophic failure of Fox’s phone-in voting system, American TV viewers … will still decide the winner,” the AP reports. Viewers will choose the winner Sept. 3.
+ plus: with ever-increasing ratings, American Idol is “the first Fox series ever to” be “the most popular show among the 18-to-49-year-old demographic.”
