Although the show’s web site has yet to be updated with the information (come on, Showtime), American Candidate apparently has its 12 finalists, judging by press releases issued by some of the finalists and media coverage of others. In no particular order, they include: PETA’s director of vegan campaigns Bruce Friedrich; Dick Gephardt’s lesbian daughter Chrissy Gephardt; former Libertarian candidate for governor of Utah Richard Mack; Lisa Witter, who “runs the country’s largest public interest strategy and media firm”; “Black gay activist and author” Keith Boykin; and Arkansas resident Joyce Riley. Most are holding local rallies this week; Witter’s press release reveals that she, and thus probably the other candidates, had to organize a rally “with 32 hours to plan and $100 to spend.”
