Showtime finally reveals candidates.
Showtime has finally hauled itself off its lazy ass and announced who the 10 American Candidates are. They’ve even updated the show’s crappy Flash web site with the information. Although we’ve known for more than a month who most of them are, and although they’ve been appearing in public for a while, there was no official announcement. The 10 finalists are Chrissy Gephardt, Keith Boykin, Bruce Friedrich, Park Gillespie, Richard Mack, Jim Strock, Bob Vanech, Lisa Witter, Malia Lazu, and Joyce Riley. Meanwhile, the conspiracy theories continue to fly; blog AmCanSham details the less-obvious connections between the lesser known candidates and the show’s producers and/or established political organizations. Detailing the show’s dark side apparently has consequences: one contributor to the blog has been posting increasingly odd song parodies about the series. We’re going to have to get those bloggers some oxygen and/or Vicodin when the series finally debuts on August 1.
