Gephardt first Candidate eliminated.
GLBT activist Chrissy Gephardt, one of the more well-known finalists on American Candidate, was the first person voted off the show by her fellow candidates. After only drawing 147 people to a rally, she faced off against James Strock; the other candidates’ votes for both James and Chrissy were even, resulting in a tie. Frontrunner Park Gillespie got to break the tie and chose to boot Chrissy. That’s surprisingly only if you haven’t read his stance on issues, like, say, gay marriage: He asks, “Why stop there? Want to marry an animal? Have 5 couples marry each other? This is silly.” Nine candidates remain on the show; viewers will vote once they’re narrowed down.
