A&E’s Airline debuts tonight, focuses on Southwest’s crew and passengers.
Passengers, staff, and crew members of Southwest Airlines are the focus of A&E’s new reality TV series Airline, which is based on a UK show that followed Europe’s EasyJet. The show debuts with two of its 18 30-minute episodes tonight at 10 p.m. ET, and Southwest’s president tells the Star-Telegram that “the good, the bad and the ugly” is part of the series. The paper also reports that the series covers a lot of ground, from terrorism concerns to employees who have to “deal with a passenger who smells so bad other travelers at the gate have complained” to the effects of last year’s blackout on Chicago Midway and LAX (the two airports that are featured). The airline profiles five employees who are featured on the series, and predicts they’ll be watched by “an estimated television audience of 1.1 million.” Other airlines have apparently asked about being featured in future seasons, having passed on the opportunity the first time.
