David Hasselhoff will be a “stage dad” on his new A&E series

David Hasselhoff quit as a judge on America’s Got Talent for his own A&E reality series, which was officially announced late yesterday. A&E says the series “will take a behind-the-scenes look into the life of ‘The Hoff’ focusing on his multiple entertainment and business endeavors, as well as his most important role as a single dad trying to help his teenage daughters break into the recording industry.”

But really, it seems like it’ll be about him as a “stage dad,” a phrase the press releases uses, and The Hoff says it’s basically about him using his connections to get his daughters into the industry. “It’s the dream of every parent to be able to help their children succeed. I told the girls that I would help them open the door when they are ready, but they would have to walk through it on their own,” he said.

The show’s 10 half-hour episodes debut later this year.
