ABC confirms Emily Maynard is ready to have a man “make her his wife” (really)

Emily Maynard will star in The Bachelorette 8, ABC confirmed today, although rumors and tabloid reports have been saying that for months.

The network’s press release calls her “the beautiful, sweet, young mom who captured America’s and Brad Womack’s heart on the 15th season of The Bachelor” and says that her “strength, passion and southern charm — as a mother and as a woman — would make anyone happy to make her his wife.”

Make her his wife? Are they fucking kidding? Or are we regressing backwards with each season, so pretty soon we’ll just have families pushing their daughters toward a man along with wads of cash and a goat?
