Jessica Simpson cast in the Tim Gunn role on NBC’s Fashion Star

Magical Elves forthcoming fashion design/brand competition Fashion Star has cast Jessica Simpson as the show’s mentor, in the role that Tim Gunn originated in Project Runway, the Bravo series that inspired the Bravo knock off, The Fashion Show that is a very, very close relative to this NBC series.

The announcement calls Jessica a “musician, entertainer and fashion designer,” and NBC’s reality executive Paul Telegdy said in the press release, “With an almost billion dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers.” She’s come a long way being confused by Chicken of the Sea.
