Simon Cowell admits American Idol can be “mind-numbingly boring”

One of American Idol 7‘s judges is–or at least, has been–as bored as some viewers are. Simon Cowell says that he just can’t hide his boredom, although he’s not bored now.

“It’s a reality show. If you’re bored, you’re bored. If you’re not, you’re not. I can’t help it if I’m bored. Sometimes it’s mind-numbingly boring, and it shows on my face,” Simon told The New York Post.

The worst part is early in the season. “It’s a long run during auditions. That’s the time that you’re most miserable,” he said. But he’s not as bored now because the finalist are “trying harder.”
