Tyra Banks denies she’s leaving the show

A report that Tyra Banks may quit America’s Next Top Model and is feuding with photo shoot coordinator/antagonist Jay Manuel are false, according to Tyra’s representative.

Tyra’s representative told Us Magazine that OK Magazine’s report is not true: “The rumors about Tyra leaving and the fight with Jay are NOT TRUE!” All caps and an exclamation point: Tyra’s rep is definitely serious.

The denial is fine, but it doesn’t make sense why Tyra (and presumably her representatives) “wouldn’t comment on the rumors” to MSNBC’s gossip columnist when the story first broke, so why comment now? Did they think the story would be buried? Do they get more press by letting the denial play as a separate story?
