Audience reaction at Fashion Week favored one Project Runway 4 designer over the others

The final five Project Runway 4 designers presented their collections at Fashion Week on Friday, and while photos were at first hard to come by, now we have full-blown video of their presentations, and information about the audience’s reaction. (While the actual judging took place later, the actual clothes and audience’s reception could constitute spoilers.) has video of the five collections, plus comments from Project Runway alumni:

In an essay about the show, Salon’s Cintra Wilson runs down how the audience responded to each designer, and one comes out better than all the rest. Excerpts:

Sweet P: “The audience gave her a nice clap at the end that was very A for effort. It was clear they thought she was very sweet, but that nobody thinks this chubby girl with tattoos is actually going to win.”

Chris March: “The audience was glad for him, and rewarded him by bursting into spontaneous aaaaahs and applause at the sight of his first dress”

Jillian Lewis: “While the Fashion Week audience was more than willing to acknowledge her talent, it seemed they just didn’t like her personality very much, making her the Hillary Clinton of ‘Project Runway.'”

Rami Kashou: “Rami, if we are to go by the audience’s dubious reaction, will also not win ‘Project Runway’ due to his not-quite-charming-enough personality. But he is a designer of outstanding skill.”

Christian Siriano: “The audience didn’t want to love him — he’s an awful bitch — but they couldn’t help themselves. He’s got the magic, and everyone knows it. He simply is a designer, while all the others are aspiring designers.”

And they’re auf! [Salon]
