MTV may move/spin-off Laguna Beach to Newport Beach

MTV is “in talks with Newport Beach officials about bringing a show to the city,” the OC Register reports, and that new show involves Laguna Beach.

That show could be a spin-off series, or it could be another season of Laguna Beach. That’s because cast members from that show “would venture into Newport, possibly meeting up with locals who would become characters in the [new] show.”

Ironically, The O.C., the FOX series that inspired the MTV reality series, is set in Newport Beach. An MTV spokesperson told the paper, “We’re just exploring shooting a series right now, but we don’t have any details to provide.”

The fourth season of Laguna Beach started filming in December.
