Survivor Fiji begins production today; will bring $6 million, 230 jobs to Fiji

Survivor Fiji reportedly begins taping today, and the results will benefit both American television audiences and some people in Fiji.

The Fiji Times reports that the production “is expected to inject $6million into the community by creating at least 230 jobs and hosting a 250-member production crew in the Vunivutu area.”

While part of a road is being closed for periods of time to accommodate the production, locals were “invited to a cocktail by the crew at the campsite” on Oct. 16. Besides local villagers, government officials and business members also attended, more than 400 people in all.

That occurred after Fiji’s “Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase officially launched the shooting of the show at Vunivutu village,” according to the paper.
