Danity Kane’s album debuts at number one, beating OutKast by almost 40,000 copies

Danity Kane, the debut album from the Making the Band 3 album, has debuted at number one. That’s better than either O-Town or Da Band’s debuts.

More significantly, the group beat Outkast, which sold just 196,000 copies of its new record compared to Danity Kane’s 234,000 copies. E! Online calls that an “upset.”

Danity Kane “sold a remarkable 90,000 copies its first day, sparking a massive effort to ship an additional 125,000 copies to stores,” according to E!. To date, “[r]etail orders now top 625,000 discs.”
