Idol producer says Prince “did not want to talk with the kids”

Prince will probably not appear on American Idol 5 because, according to the show’s executive producer, Prince didn’t want to have to deal with the contestants.

Prince was talking to producers because “[e]xecutives from the singer’s record company had urged him to appear on the popular series to help maintain high album sales for his new release, 3121,” the World Entertainment News Network reports. However, “the two sides failed to hammer out an agreement.”

That’s because, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe says, “He did not want to talk with the kids and did not have the time.”
