Extreme Makeover finale constructing brand-new house for war victim’s family.
The finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition‘s second season began taping yesterday morning in Tuba City, Arizona. Actually, the show will mostly tape in Flagstaff, where the show will build a family a brand-new home, since they currenly live in a rented trailer. The family in question are the relatives of Lori Piestewa, an army specialist who was killed in Iraq and “is believed to be the first Native American woman to die in combat,” according to an ABC press release. It also notes that this is “the first time since the show’s inception that a Native American family was selected. … The Hopi and Navajo tribes from Arizona are co-sponsoring the project with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians; marking the first time the show also has featured Native American sponsors.” The house will be unveiled next Tuesday, and ground will be broken tomorrow, The Business Journal of Phoenix reports. The episode airs May 22.
