Idol 4 semi-finalists include Star Search competitors and experienced performers.
Opening American Idol 4 to older competitors, and allowing those who don’t have recording contracts (but may have in the past) has led to a final 24 that have impressive resumes. As E! Online found, “Two are former Star Search contestants. One supposedly got her big break on a TV show called Your Big Break. Another is the son of a baseball Hall of Famer.” The baseball player’s kid is Nikko Smith; his dad is Ozzie Smith. Constantine Maroulis has appeared in Rent, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, and Macbeth. Additionally, “Bo Bice … has opened for Warrant, and performed and recorded with Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Johnny Neal,” E! reports. Mail carrier Vonzell Solomon previously “released her first album/demo, My Struggle, which, in an cringe-worthy coincidence, bears the same title as Hitler’s autobiography/screed.”
