Contender may move to January.
After its rival series The Next Great Champ premiered to dismal ratings, NBC is considering moving its boxing series The Contender to January. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “speculation is that NBC is considering pushing the premiere of ‘Contender,’ fronted by Sylvester Stallone, to January. Sources said the rationale is that the move would put distance between the two series to help it avoid any more direct comparisons to ‘The Next Great Champ.’”
