Mark Burnett and Bunim-Murray move into producing scripted TV series.
Two venerable reality TV producers are betraying their roots and moving into producing scripted series. The WB has three series from Mark Burnett on their fall schedule, but only one is a reality TV show. The WB announced that he’s producing the sit-com Commando Nanny, based upon his life, and another comedy called Shacking Up. There are no details available yet about his new WB reality series. Bunim-Murray, the creator of the grandfather of all current reality television The Real World, just “hired Philip Segal as executive VP of programming and development. In the newly created position Mr. Segal will guide the company’s expansion into scripted programming,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
