UK MTV show will follow bands’ lives.
A new UK/Ireland MTV show “will follow several real bands as they try to make it in the music business,” Brand Republic reports. That includes “recording sessions, video shoots, first brushes with the media” and even “the release of the first single,” if the band makes it that far. Breaking Point, which will apparently resemble VH1’s Bands on the Run but without the competition, is an “antidote to the primetime talent contests that have dominated schedules over the past few years,” an MTV UK exec says. The show debuts May 17 and will air on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings; no word about the possibility of it airing in the US.
