The Real World Philadelphia will be filmed at the historic Seamen’s Church Institute, and it’s already the site of drama. Union picketers began demonstrating in front of the building, because a nonunion contractor was hired to do work in the space. Some union officials told the Philadelphia Enquirer that “they might overlook the nonunion labor involved in the Real World rehab because they believe that the MTV exposure would be a plus for Philadelphia and workers in its film and television industry.” But the picketing union workers promised to be all up in MTV’s face: “When they start filming, we plan to be here.”
