Pop Idol 2 down to three; Chris out.
Pop Idol 2 is down to three contestants after judge and crowd favorite Chris was dismissed Saturday night in “a shock exit,” as the BBC calls it. Simon Cowell earlier said that one of Chris’ songs was the “highlight of the series so far.” Finalists Michelle McManus, Sam Nixon, and Mark Rhodes will record singles today. Chris tried to make over his nerdy image to help him “stand out” and “feel sexier” around women; the centerpiece of this effort was, ironically, a pair of thick-framed red and black glasses “designed by the person who makes Elton John’s glasses,” The Sun reports.
