Showtime may air American Candidate.
Exactly one month ago, as he did in August, RJ Cutler teased that there’d be an announcement about American Candidate soon. According to an article in Variety–at least the part that’s not hidden for subscribers only–the announcement apparently involves Showtime agreeing to pick up the series. Variety says Showtime “will decide in the coming weeks whether to greenlight ‘Candidate’ but is expected to vote yes.” The program first started at another pay cable network, HBO, before jumping to FX and then becoming homeless. The show will begin production in February and air next summer, Variety says.
