Simon won’t return for third season, says Clay knew results backstage.
Simon Cowell says American Idol 2 runner-up Clay Aiken “saw the names about five minutes before he was due to go out [on stage]. … Ryan Seacrest is so thick–there’s two names to remember, he has to have them written down!” Clay denied seeing the names, according to the New York Post. Also, Simon says yet again that he won’t return for a third season. On an LA talk show, he said, “Why can’t I say yes? I’ll tell you what … because I can’t. And you know it’s not about the money anymore.” Ryan Seacrest says that’s just “posturing, posturing.”
