Clay’s single is the best-selling CD on Amazon, even though it’s not out yet.
Just as the decline in popularity of Pop Idol-affiliated artists is being partially blamed for the falling single sales in the UK, Clay Aiken has the number-one selling CD on Amazon.com–even though it’s not out yet and isn’t even necessarily going to be published. Like last season, Amazon.com is offering pre-orders for American Idol 2‘s winner’s CD, but because we don’t know the winner yet, both finalists have singles listed. As of 1 a.m. ET, Clay Aiken’s This Is The Night/On The Wings Of Love is Amazon’s best-selling CD, even though he has yet to win the competition. His competitor’s single isn’t doing that well, although it is climbing: Ruben Studdard’s Flying Without Wings/Superstar is at number 94 right now. The CD that is released will be out June 3.
