More than six months after she won American Idol, Kelly Clarkson finally has a record. Released today, Thankful includes a duet with first-season finalist Tamyra Gray, a song originally intended for and partially written by Christina Aguilera, and a “title-track collaboration with Babyface and The Underdogs,” USA TODAY reports. The paper’s review of the album says the songs are “generic” and “sound as if they were pretested by focus groups to appeal equally to Top 40, urban and adult-contemporary radio formats.”
