UK’s Pop Idol 2 planned for fall; producers deny delaying show.
The second season of the UK’s Pop Idol will debut in the fall, around a year and a half after the first season ended. In the US, the second season of American Idol is debuting in January, just over three months after the conclusion of the first show. An ITV spokesperson says “[t]he show was never meant to go out in February, as has been reported by some sections of the press. That was purely a guestimate. … The original Pop Idol series began in the autumn and that is the time it will go out again.” Lower ratings for similar, more recent music-themed reality TV shows were apparently assumed by some to be the reason for the delay.
