South Africa’s Pop Idol accused of “vote-rigging and racial prejudice.”
The British series Pop Idol, currently on the air in the US as American Idol, just completed a run in South Africa. However, the BBC reports that the white man who won Idols “was simply not as talented as his black rivals,” according to critics of the show. There are also accusations of voting fraud, from a contestant voting repeatedly for herself to betting syndicates.
