PBS was interested in American High before it was cancelled.
Although PBS wanted FOX’s reality TV show right away, it took them a while to get the rights to American High because FOX wasn’t ready to give it up–even though they cancelled the show. “It is not easy, shall we say, to extract a series from another network, even if they don’t want to broadcast it,” says PBS senior vice president John Wilson.
