NBC buys Burnett’s Destination: Mir.
NBC will pay nearly $40 million for the broadcast rights to Destination: Mir, Mark Burnett’s new show that will end with a live broadcast of a contestant being selected and launched into space. The network and Burnett will share advertising revenues, just like the arrangement he had with CBS. The show will probably air in 2001.
